A comprehensive, well-documented, functional and appropriate emergency plan is fundamental to ensuring that your business is as resilient as it can be to emergencies such as major fires or other severe events that may threaten its continued viability.

Britrisk prepares clients’ emergency plans on the basis of detailed vulnerability and criticality analyses. This focuses attention on the key threats and ensures that planning and resources are directed where they will do the most good.

The objective of the plan is that following the emergency you are still in business.

Purpose of the Plan

The successful implementation of the emergency plan response procedures must provide the capability to:

bullet Avoid or minimise injury
bullet Prevent or minimise disruption to operations or trading activity
bullet Prevent or limit damage to the corporate image
bullet Prevent or limit financial loss

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

Developing Your Plan

Working with your staff to ensure that they have ownership of the plan and are fully conversant with the response procedures, Britrisk consultants will conduct risk assessments that will determine the potential emergencies that could impact on your business and the probable severity. They will then develop a plan and procedures that will reduce the risk and enhance your ability to respond quickly and effectively should an emergency situation occur.

Stage 1

Our risk assessment will identify the potential emergency situations which could impact on your business, such as fire, flooding or business hazards and rank them according to their probable severity. We will assess your company’s vulnerability to such events.

Stage 2

Based on the results of Stage 1, we will assess your company’s state of readiness to deal with emergencies. This will involve an audit of existing emergency response procedures, systems, and equipment.

Stage 3

An Emergency Plan and Response Procedures programme will be developed based on the assessment and audit results from Stages 1 and 2.

Stage 4

Emergency Plans and Response Procedures are only as effective as the readiness of the individuals or teams designated to implement them. It is essential therefore, that the plan and procedures are tested. Conducting emergency exercises will ensure familiarity with the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency.

Britrisk's consultants have extensive experience of planning and conducting exercises. Our specialists can assist and guide you in their preparation and implementation.
